I get to go on the ICE tonight.

I was pretty excited waking up in my hotel room this morning, knowing I'd be heading across Denmark to Copenhagen later.

That is, until my Churman colleague told me about the Eschede disaster.

Dude. How did I not know about this? I suppose I was in my last year at school, studying things like Shakespeare, vectors and chemical half reactions - not really taking an active interest in German derailment disasters.

Over a hundred people died, when the train, traveling at 200 km/h derailed and hit a bridge. One coach was squashed to only 6 inches thick.

I think I'm going to vomit.

I really want to go to Copenhagen. But I'm just not sure if I'm going to make it now. I am really quite frightened.

The one thing is the actual train I'm going on, gets loaded onto a ferry. As Denmark is made up of lots of islands, the only way for the train to get across to Copenhagen is to travel by boat.

Have you ever? I'll be sitting on a train. On a boat.

I walked around the Hamburg shops last night, trying to avoid carbs, and gave in to a quiche made with sausages.

Obviously.

Tried to unsuccessfully buy a pair of wedges, horribly hungover.

Feeling better today but am literally shitting myself for this train journey.
